Everywhere we go–locally or across the globe–we meet people looking to invest in their own communities. We are committed to partnering with local leaders and empowering community members to develop projects that will work for the long haul.
Building community through building people is our specialty.
Right now, we are focused on supporting families in Peru who are seeking a new path, or nuevo camino. Through Nuevo Camino, we support:
• Single mothers who are fighting to escape domestic violence and build a new life for their families. They are learning new skills to bring into the workplace, building a community where they help each other, and gaining hope (perhaps the most important asset of all!) for their futures.
• Young refugees from Venezuela now living in Peru who want to contribute to their new community, pursue higher education and gain experience they can use to rebuild their country one day too.
• Families in a rural village in the Andes mountains who want to make the future better for their children through health and education. We send medical teams to bolster the day-to-day work of the one doctor and two nurses who serve the community.
Here is what a year of building community looks like for Something New.
