2018 has been an incredible year – thank you for all your support!
This month, San Juan parents and teachers finished construction their new school kitchen! With financial support from Something New, each family donated bricks and helped build this great new facility for the community. Check out the final product, and the steps along the way!
Thank you to our friends at Pinewood Realty Group and everyone who attended the Holiday Open House in support of getting the kids in Cusco into school this year! We raised an additional $5,432, which puts us over 2/3rds of the way toward our goal!
There’s Black Friday and Cyber Monday…
Let’s give the gift of education on November 27!
Meet Randy. He wants to be a pediatrician. Between his mom’s overdoses, his little sister’s pneumonia, and his own severe headaches, he’s spent enough time in hospitals to know the difference between the doctors who simply clock in and out and the ones who stop by just to cheer you up with a magic trick.
The road to Randy’s dream starts with tan pants, a button-up shirt, a brown coat and black closed-toe shoes. That’s Randy’s uniform and his ticket to school. Without it, he can’t go to school. And when your mom only makes $250 per month selling clothes six days a week for 12 hours a day, there isn’t money for a uniform.
Randy has already been accepted to the National School of the Sciences. He arrives 2 hours early to school each day to study, and he knows exactly what he needs to do next. Medical exams aren’t offered in Spanish, so Randy has been learning English so he will be ready.
Without his prized ticket to school (his uniform), he’ll miss the chance to achieve his dream of becoming a doctor. [Read more…] about Give the Gift of Education this #GivingTuesday!
Ever been to a Nuevo Camino tent sale? Amelia made each and every one of those hair scrunchies by hand. All proceeds from our sales support our Nuevo Camino families as they transition out of the women’s shelter. Shop here for more great product!
It’s beautiful to see our Nuevo Camino moms take what they’ve received and “pay it forward” into the next wave of families. From taking other moms into their own homes, to helping with projects in the schools, they are demonstrating how much a second chance at life means to them. They help build community each day by investing in others who join them on this new path.
